I own a 2018 Chevy Equinox Premier Diesel. Can you recommend a full setup for flat towing including car protector?

Expert Reply:
To Flat tow your 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Premier Diesel you need a base plate kit, tow bar, a set of safety cables, wiring for the lights, a supplemental braking system, and probably a high-low adapter.
Since you want to have a shield to protec the Equinox I recommend the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit # RM-523193-4. It's the only Roadmaster kit that works with the Guardian Rock Guard, part # RM-4000. They also pair well with the Falcon All-Terrain tow bar, part # RM-522. The All-Terrain is a good choice because the motorhome and Chevy don't have to be perfectly lined up to disconnect the two. You also need safety cables. I recommend the Roadmaster 64" Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables # RM-645.
To provide lighting on your Equinox while being towed, I recommend a diode kit # RM-15267. This kit allows you to use your vehicle's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV. It is highly recommended that 4-cylinder models use a fuse bypass # RM-76517, while V6 models will need to use part number # RM76511. Your Equinox requires that a fuse be pulled to flat tow it and the fuse bypass makes it so that you can just flip a switch instead pulling the fuse each time.
I recommend using the Roadmaster Even Brake System # RM-9400 for a supplemental braking system for you. It's a proportional system to it applies the Chevy's brakes with the same intensity as your motorome is braking. You need a 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332 kit to power the Even Brake. The installation of this braking system requires using the Roadmaster Stop light switch # RM-751489. This will activate an alert system in your motorhome to let you know the brakes are being applied in your Equinox.
Finally, you likely need a high-low adapter to level the tow bar with the Equinox. You want the tow bar to be within 3 inches of level when connected. I've linked our selection of high-low adapters for you to choose from once you know the correct rise or drop your setup requires.
I have provided links to the products recommended above, several helpful articles that explain the components involved in a flat towing system, as well as a couple of demonstration, and installation videos for your reference.
