The hitch can be transfered from the 2004 Ford to the 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 but you'll need a new rail kit since the Ford and Dodge trucks are very different.

For that we recommend going with a custom fit rail kit like the Reese part # RP50140-58. Reason being this rail kit will work with all hitch brands designed for this style of rail and because the custom install rail kits install in much less time than the universal rail kits and minimize drilling.
