Question:

I will be starting from ground zero on flat towing the 2018 jeep wrangler. After reading some of the QandAs on your website I decided to go with what the majority said. I ordered the Nighthawk tow bar. And plan to order the following, please correct me if wrong on anything. Brake system Stay-in-Play Duo SM-99251, Base Plate EZ-5 RM-521448-5, Brake light relay RM-88400, Tow bar cover RM-055-3. On the wiring some of the experts recommend the Hopkins wiring harness HM-56200 and some recommend the Roadmaster diode 7-wire to 6-wire RM 15267. Which one would be the best and easiest? I recently installed the Curt T-connector C-55124 for trailer wiring.

The Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit # RM-521448-5 will work well with the Knighthawk tow bar # RM-676 which comes with the safety cables and wiring connector. The Roadmaster Tow Bar Cover # RM-055-3 is a confirmed fit.

For the rest of your wiring, I recommend the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56200 and then cut and hardwire the 4 way into the 6-way connector # A10-6034VP using heat shrink butt connectors # DW05743-5. You will need to attach the ring terminal to ground on your frame, and this combination is the easiest option and will work even with the Curt # C55124 you mentioned installed. I attached a video to assist.

The SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251 is a great system with the # RM-88400 relay required to prevent the towed vehicle's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes during a turn.

Finally, you may need a high-low adapter. I've attached an article and a link to your options to assist with getting the correct fit.
