Question:

my husbands CURT TRIFLEX will intermittently blink L.8 or L.9 while driving with no trailer attached. Would you have any idea why it does that?

In this case there maybe a loose connection somewhere that is causing the # C24VV to intermittently blink L.8 or L.9 or another possibility is that this unit needs to be reset. To start that process disconnect power from the unit for up to 10 minutes, that will allow the controller to reset its self. After 10 minutes, plug it back in and see if that worked.
