Amp Draw on GE Appliances Deluxe RV AC System

Updated 02/18/2026 | Published 02/13/2026

Question:

Id like information for the amps that the unit draws on startup and what it draws when cooling and heating. Im concerned about needing a 20 amp breaker for a 13,500 BTU

Hey Joe! I reached out to GE and they said the # GE25ZR spikes to 20+ amps for a split second on startup. Breakers are designed to allow very short-duration inrush spikes. A split-second surge over 20A is completely normal and won't be a problem. When it is running it will draw 10-12A for both heating and cooling. This is pretty standard for an RV AC of this size.

What is your main concern?
