Is Lock Nut with Nylock Difficult to Thread Onto Bolt
Updated 04/16/2018 | Published 04/14/2018 >
Question:
I just cut off my old springs and have attached the new ones purchased from etrailer. All is good except it seems very difficult to tighten the bolts on the shackle ends. I had no problem on the hangers and the ribbed end near the head just embedded itself. This seems not to happen on the hangars, maybe too hard? I am putting a lot of torque and the ribbed end just does not move in. Do I need a different type of bolt?

Nuts that have Nylock built into which is what prevents them from backing off over time. It's what makes them a "lock nut". The downside is they can be a bit difficult to thread on since it has to be super tight.
You still might verify that the nuts is the correct size for the bolt and you aren't cross-threaded. If you remove the nut does the threads on the bolt looks damaged where the nut was? If so, it's not the right size or it's cross threaded.
