Question:
Hello etrailer, I have a 2013 Ford explorer Limited 4x4. I pull an 18foot Fiberglass fishing boat app. weight loaded is 3200lb. It is very tongue heavy. It makes the explorer squat 1 3/4inch and makes it feel as if there is very little weight on the front tires when driving. I currently have the Air Lift 1000 system which works great but one of them is leaking and has to be replaced. Its only two years old. How would the Timbren system compare to the Air Lift 1000. I understand the lack of maintenance with the Timbren system, but how much will the truck squat before the Timbren system starts to work? I dont think I want to go with an air system because of the issues that I am having with my current set up. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Timbren springs # TFRFLX will still allow the tongue weight of the trailer to pull down the back of your 2013 Ford Explorer a little, about an inch or so, so it won't take out the squat completely. The best solution for squat caused by towing a trailer is weight distribution (provided that your trailer hitch is rated for it).
On boat trailers there is usually a straight tongue called a pole tongue. To use weight distribution you will need a pole tongue adapter # EQ95-01-5950. Then you can use weight distribution system # FA92-00-0600 which is rated for 250 to 600 pounds tongue weight. The only other item needed is a properly sized ball; # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch.
