Can a 2,000 Pound Swivel Jack Handle 1,000 Pounds of Tongue Weight

Updated 03/28/2018 | Published 03/27/2018

Question:

I have a 28 ft Carver boat. The jack is froze. The TJP-2001-BA has the same attachment setup. Just not sure if it is sturdy enough to do the job. The tongue weight is around 1000 lb. Any thoughts?

Helpful Expert Reply:

Round, Pipe Mount Swivel Jack # TJP-2001-B is rated for 2,000 pounds so it can handle the 1,000 pounds of tongue weight. Of course the higher the capacity jack the easier it will be on the jack. We actually have a lot of pipe-mount swivel jacks, see link. The important thing to look at for any of them is the size of the pipe attached to the jack, the size of the pipe it fits, and the diameter of the pin used to secure the jack to the trailer.
