The CIPA Custom Towing Mirrors # CM10800 that you recently installed on your Sierra feature a basic floating design that allows for manual adjustment.
I spoke with my contact at CIPA to see if he could provide any tips for this process. He did state that the mirrors are constructed to be free of vibration when driving, so the relatively extensive pressure you are needing to apply to them in order to adjust the mirror is perfectly normal and actually by design. He just recommended applying firm pressure to the edges of the mirror face with your fingers. As long as you don't try to use a tool like a screwdriver to pry the mirror face into position, you do not need to worry about cracking or damaging it. The mirror is mounted into the housing using a gimbal/ball attachment, so adjustment is capable in any direction.
