Karrier Radial Tire and Wheel # AM32153 Recommendation for a Coleman Mesa Tent Trailer

Updated 07/15/2011 | Published 07/14/2011

Question:

My Coleman Mesa tent trailer came with st185/80 D13 Duro tires that were not rated high enough to take the trailer at full load 1480 lbs each, the trailer is 3250 lbs max.. It was suggested to me to get 14 tires and rims that would exceed the loading hence the query here, but you have a Kenda 13 wheel and tire combo that has a high enough rating to directly replace the shoddy Duros . Which is best, and do you always have to run at full psi rated, or is 50 psi on a 65 psi tire OK ???

As long as you have the correct capacity wheels and tires for your trailer you could use either a 13 or a 14 inch wheel. They would both perform well for you.

I would recommend you get a Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire # AM32153. This wheel/tire is very similar to the Loadstar Tire and Wheel # AM3S440 that you referenced except the tire is a radial tire that will give you better traction and treadware.

It is always recommended to use the maximum psi listed for the trailer tire. This will offer the best possible stability and treadware and gas milieage.

I attached an FAQ page on trailer tires for you to check out.
