Question:
On item number c15810 it says that it can handle 20,000 lbs with weight distribution. How much is it rated for without? I need it with a pintle hitch.

Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - 2-1/2" # C15810 is rated for a max towing weight of 20,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 2,700 lbs whether you are using weight distribution or not. The only benefit to weight distribution with this hitch is a smoother ride and sway control if using a system that has that integrated.
It is rare that the towing capacity with or without weight distribution is the same, but this is case on some of these really high capacity hitches. For your pintle hitch, I recommend the Curt Pintle Hook - 20,000 lbs # C48012 or # C48010 without the hitch ball. If you need the adjustable height for level towing, I recommend # C48348 and # C48215.
I've attached an article to assist.
