Review of Curt Ball Mounts C48339

Today, we're going to be taking a look at product number C48339. This is the Curt Pintle Hook Mounting Plate for 2-1/2-inch Hitches. This adapter plate is going to provide a mounting point for a pintle hook. Your pintle hook is sold separately, but you can find those on our website if you need to get one. This part of the mount is going to be called our shank. This is going to be the piece that slides into the hitch that's mounted on your vehicle. Then I slide it in until your pinholes line up with one another, and then you're going to install a hitch pintle clip or a hitch pintle lock.

Those items are sold separately as well. The diameter of that hitch pinhole's going to measure 5/8 of an inch. Now, one of the neat things about this pintle mounting plate is, it's going to give you three different positions. It's going to let you customize the height of the pintle. You're going to have Position 1, Position 2, and Position 3. Eight-hole design, four holes located on each side.

This can be used in either the drop position, which would be this position here, or it can be flipped over inside the hitch, and it can be used in the rise position. It's made from a nice, study steel construction. It's going to have a solid shank here on the back side. And it's going to have a nice, durable carbide black powder coat finish, to resist rust and corrosion. The product's made in the USA.

Again, it's designed for 2-1/2-inch-by-2-1/2-inch trailer hitch receivers. It's going to offer a weight capacity of 20,000 pounds. We're going to go over some measurements real quick. Here at the front face, at our mounting plate, it's going to give us an overall width of about 6-1/2 inches. It's going to give us an overall height, to this point here, of about 7-1/4 of an inch. The mounting holes, these are going to be separate on-center, go in this direction.

That looks to be about 3-5/16 of an inch apart. Then, vertically, they're going to be separated by 1-3/4 of an inch. That's going to be consistent between each hole. These holes here on the front plate, those are going to give us a diameter of 9/16 of an inch. Taking the measurement of the overall length of the unit, measuring from the very front to the very back, that's going to give us a measurement of about 10-1/2 inches. Then, the distance that we have from the center of the hitch pinhole to the front of the plate, this is going to be our shank length. That's going to give us a measurement of about 6-1/4 of an inch. If we take a measurement from the center of the hitch pinhole to the back of the plate, that's going to give us a measurement of about 5-7/8 of an inch. From the center of the hitch pinhole to the back of the support bar, that's going to be about 3-1/2 inches. Then, you could see here on the front plate, has this nice, curved edge on each side. It kind of has a wing. If we measure to the back of that wing to the center of the hitch pinhole, we're looking at about 4-3/4 of an inch. That's the very back portion of that front plate, since it has a curved design here on the edge. Last measurement I want to give you is, just the thickness of the plate, here at the front. Take a quick measurement of that real quick. That's going to give us a thickness . of about 3/8 of an inch. The thickness here of that front plate is going to measure 3/8 of an inch. That's going to do it for our review of part number C48339. This is the Curt Pintle Hook Mounting Plate for 2-1/2-inch Hitches. .
