Hitch Dimensions for Fitting Hitch to 2012 Ford F-450

Question:
Can you help me understand why this 15810 hitch that measures width of 36 5/8 wont fit my 2012 F 450 super duty with a frame width of 34 1/2 ?

The width of your frame indicates that your 2012 Ford F-450 is most likely a cab and chassis model which has the frame width a few inches than a standard truck bed. But if you can measure the distance between the mounting holes on the frame of your truck from left to right and they are 34.31 inches this hitch # C15810 would fit and work well.
