Longer Weight Distribution Shank Recommendation for Increasing Distance To Allow Tailgate to Open
Published 02/22/2018 >
Question:
Thanks so much for the recommendation on a longer shank. Forgot to ask you about longer safety chains. With the current 12” shank, I’m using two 26” chains plus Clevis Slip Hooks and quick link connectors (overall length length 33”). What chain lengths do you recommend when going from a 12” to an 18” long shank? I assume something around 42”.

We have the Curt Weight Distribution Shank # C17122 which is much longer than most standard shanks. It 14" from the center of the pin hole to the center of the adjustment holes which is typically quite a bit longer than most shanks and would most likely be what you would need in terms of additional length.
