Trailer brakes are sized as needed to reach the stopping power required for the axle weight rating.
We have electric drum brakes for 2K axles that measure 7 x 1-1/4-inches and that work with 13-inch wheels, such as # AKEBRK-2 and we have brakes for 3K axles like # K23-473-00 and # K23-472-00 which are 10 x 1-1/2-inches and that also work with 13-inch wheels. Your axle should have a sticker or plate that indicates its weight rating. This will tell you the capacity of brake you need.
You can also refer to the linked article that covers the topic of adding electric drum brakes to a trailer. This article will give you all the details you need to select and install drum brakes. Our main page for electric drum brakes is linked too.
You will also need a trailer brake controller, such as the reliable and user-friendly Prodigy P2 # 90885. This will slow the trailer in proportion to the tow vehicle's deceleration. If your truck has a factory 7-way you will need only wiring adapter # 3015-P to connect the P2.
