positive wire to brakes is grounded

Expert Reply:
The magnet wiring of electric drum brakes for trailers is not polarized. This means that when installing an electric drum brake like # AKEBRK-7-SA (or even just a replacement magnet such as # AKBRKR-M12 ) you can use either brake wire as ground or hot. It does not matter which is used.
