Question:

I have an off road trailer with a loaded weight of approximately 3200lbs. Im wanting to use a Timbren axle system and would like recommendations on which one to use. It looks like the ASR35HDS02 would be best due to the 4inch lift and for off road tires. My question also is about the braking system. From what I can tell, only 12inch brakes are available for this axle due to the 5 bolt attachment. Can you please confirm as I was thinking 10inch should be sufficient for my needs. I do want a recommended system that has the parking brake feature. Thanks

The Timbren Axle-Less Suspension, # ASR35HDS02, are designed to be used with 12 inch brakes.

Timbren does offer an axle set # ASR3500S06 that will allow you to install 10 inch electric brakes. These axles are rated a 3,500 lbs, but do not have the heavy duty design like # ASR35HDS02 and the 10 inch brakes do not have a parking brake included. Parking brakes are available on 12 inch brakes rated for 6,000 lbs axles.

For 10 inch brake assemblies I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 3,500 lbs, # AKEBRK-35-SA. This is a set of assemblies for both left and right sides of the trailer. These assemblies are self-adjusting meaning they only require an initial setup at installation and will adjust as you use the brakes.

For drums assemblies I recommend the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2, # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. I also recommend using # 10-2-1, sold by the foot, wire for connecting the electric to the trailer brakes and the 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # HS381-9000, to connect your trailer wiring to a junction box and a 7-way to connect to your vehicle.
