Question:
What is the width of the U bolts? 2inch on center? I need to replace the U bolts on my 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD

The U-bolt in the B&W Replacement Safety Chain U-Bolt Kit, # BW1900-2-1600, measures 3-1/4 inches long x 2-1/2 inches wide. The inside measurement of the U-bolt is 1-9/16 inches. The U-bolt is also 1/2 of an inch in diameter.
The attached photo displays the measurements of the U-bolt.

The math doesn't add. 1/2 dia. bolt with an outside dimension of 2.5" would have an inside dimension of 1.5", where did the 1/16th go?
