Question:

I have a 2023 Fuzion Impact 415 that I am considering replacing the pin box with a Reese goose neck pin box. It currently has the rota-flex LC328329 which I believe uses the lippert 1621. The pin box is rated for 21,000lbs but the gvwr for our fifth wheel is 19,000 lbs with a hitch weight of 3,155 lbs. Would the 20k Reese gooseneck pin box work with our fifth wheel. If so, which one? Thanks

Hi David; the Curt Rota-Flex # LC328329 does use the Lippert 1621 bolt pattern. With your GVWR of 19,000 lbs the correct Reese Goose Box is the # RP85FR you were looking at. The capacity is a little lower than your current Rota-Flex but that won't be a problem. The 20k model is also the highest capacity offered by Reese.

If you would like more of a buffer you could also use the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # GY66FR. This replaces a 1621 and has a towing capacity of 30,000 lbs. The correct Gen-Y is determined by the formula GVWR x 0.22 = TW so with your 19k GVWR this 5,500 lb pin weight model is the right one for your 2023 Fuzion Impact 415.
