Troubleshooting Replacement Key for Sears Sport 20-SV Cargo Carrier

Question:

I recently ordered a replacement key from etrailer for my Sport 20-SV cargo carrier made by Sears. The key I received matches the number on the lock 2826, but the key will not open the lock. In fact, it only goes in about half way into the lock and wont go any farther. Is 2826 the correct number to use for ordering replacement keys for my cargo carrier? Thanks for your time.

As long as the lock core on your Sport 20-SV Cargo Carrier is printed with the number 2826, the # THKEYN2826 should be the correct replacement key.

I recommend checking to make sure the lock core is clean and free of any debris/corrosion that might be preventing the key to insert all the way. Sometimes there are also some issues with replacement keys going in smoothly during the first use. In these cases, they just need a little persuasion and you can gently tap it with a mallet to get the key in place.
