Question:
I am getting ready to purchase a Work and Play 30WRS out of state and am needing to know what size Weight Distribution/Sway control I need. The hitch weight is 1469 and will be pulling it with a 2016 Ford F350 4x4 6.7 Powerstroke Diesel, Class V with 2 1/2 receiver. Not sure what I need as I cant measure to see the drop and rise as unit is out of town. Please advise on what I can purchase.

Selecting an appropriately-rated weight distribution/sway control (WD/SC) system for a trailer like the Work and Play 30WRS tandem-axle toy hauler requires knowing the actual tongue weight (TW) of the trailer when it is fully loaded, with all gear and supplies in place, water and propane tanks filled, etc.
Dry hitch weight alone can get you in the ballpark but you really need the actual TW with all of your items in place, to which you will add the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. For example, if you keep a 150-lb generator in the back of the F-350's bed then its weight has to be added to the trailer TW figure.
TW for a toy hauler tends to vary more since owners could have so many different recreational vehicles in the back; also the fact that those toys may be positioned differently in the trailer means the TW will vary from case to case even for the very same trailer. The ideal way to go is to establish your usual loading scheme and measure with tongue weight scale # e99044.
Based on a dry hitch weight of 1469-lbs your loaded TW is apt to be in the range of 1800-lbs, so a system such as the Blue Ox Sway Pro # BXW2000, which works over a TW range of 1500- to 2000-lbs would be appropriate. This includes a 2-1/2-inch shank with a height adjustment range of 10-inches. All you need to add is the hitch ball, such as # 63840.
You can use a different shank with more rise or drop if needed. All 2-1/2-inch WD shanks are shown on a linked page.
