Question:

What 2-bike rack works best with 2012 Ford Focus hatchback. 1-1/4inch hitch. Street bikes, not mountain bikes. Considering Swagman XTC-2. Will the Swagman allow you to open the hatch with bikes attached? Thank you!

Swagman XTC-2 2-Bike Platform Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Trailer Hitches Item # S64670 is a solid choice for your 2012 Ford Focus hatchback. You will be able to open the rear hatch as long s the bikes are removed and the center mast is folded down.

Another option is the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Platform Rack # KU74FR. With this rack you can keep the bikes loaded and tilt the rack down. There is no guarantee that you can then open the rear hatch but it is more likely than with many other racks. I have linked video reviews of both racks for you.
