I spoke with our resident tire expert and he said that a 225/75-15 tire like # AM10256 will fit on a 15 x 7 inch wheel. However, he added that on a trailer, you do not often see a 15 x 7 inch wheel. That is because for trailer use, you would want to keep it more narrow.

Otherwise the sidewalls can bow out more. This can be a problem because trailer tires have a thicker sidewall and if bowed out more than normal it can build up more heat faster and lead to short life or failure. Another thing you can do to help prevent pre-mature wear is to inflate the tire to the maximum psi rating on the tire. In this case, it is 65 psi.
