Will a 225/75-15 Trailer Tire Fit on a 15x6 Inch Wheel on a Boat Trailer

Question:

I have boat trailer with st225/75r15 mounted on 15x7 rim with 6 lug pattern. Im looking for a mounted spare tire but am having trouble finding anything mounted on a 15x7 rim. Would it be acceptable to use a tire mounted on a 15x6 rim a s a spare?

A 7 inch wide wheel (on the inside where the tire sits) is the widest wheel that a 225/75-15 tire will fit on. The same tire size will also fit on a 15x6 or 15x6-1/2 wheel. You would have no problem using any of the 3 sizes as a spare. I have included a link to the tire and wheel combos in this size for you.

The key is to get one that is the same construction type as the other tires on the trailer. So if the other tires are bias ply, load range D you would choose that type. Or vice versa for radial or a different load range.
