Question:
I am looking for a set of replacement seals for a Carry-On trailer from Lowes. 2000 lb axle. Part Number on the seal is AL KO 568886. My seal ID to be 1.5 inches and the OD looks to be about 1.97 inches. It measured out at 38 and 50 mm respectively. NOTE: On your website it says that the equivalent seal is Hayes 09103305. So far as I can tell Hayes 09103305 is the equivalent of a AL KO 568861 seal, not a 568886. Either way, the seal you recommend has an ID of 1.719 and an OD of 2.565 so I know it wont work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Grease seals are offered in so many similar sizes that it is best to measure precisely, with a digital caliper like # PTW80157.
The seal itself can easily change dimensions, from aging of the inside rubber ring and from the forces required to remove it from the hub. So, it is best to measure the spindles, rather than the old seal, for the seal's inner diameter since the spindles are unlikely to have their dimensions change at all. For the seal's outer diameter you want to measure the inner bore of the hub where the seal installs.
Please refer to the linked diagram that shows point B which is where you measure the spindle for the seal's inner diameter. An example hub bore, for the outer diameter on the seal, is also shown. Ideally you will take your dimensions to the nearest thousandth, such as 1.234-inches.
With your inner and outer diameters confirmed you can use the linked page to select new seals. Click on the inner and outer diameters that are closest to your measured dimensions.
Single seal # 10-9 and 2-piece seal set # RG06-020 match closely to your dimensions and will work well.
