Question:
Does this jack have steel gears? I have 2010, Coachmen, Freedom Express Lite, 280RL. It has been through 3 electric jacks since purchased new. 2 Lipperts which came with the trailer they were under warranty and now the motor shaft screw has broken on the Ultra-Fab Ultra 4000, I purchased to replace the Lippert. I have a weight distribution hitch installed, but I do not use the jack to take the weight off the tongue. I can install the torsion bars without doing that. I need a durable jack! Not one that breaks when the warranty goes out.

Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-3755 is purported to have steel gears. But what I recommend is the Ultra-Fab Phoenix # UF38-944055. It is built with ball bearings (instead of a nut) that roll smoothly along the threads of the screw shaft and the nut. This creates less friction and heat which can lead to failure on screw and nut jacks.
This jack also features a wireless remote which is handy. The 5,500 pound rating will also mean that the jack will not have to work as hard as a lower capacity jack which also helps with longevity. I have linked a video of this jack for you.
