How To Choose The Correct Brake Mounting Flange For Your Trailer Axle

Question:

can a 5 hole mounting brkt. be welded on the axle to install electric brakes . there is no mounting brkt. on these axles . just a plate for the swinging magnet arm.

Absolutely, in order to install a 5 bolt brake mounting flange, you will need the Brake Mounting Flange for 3" Round Axle part # 4-44-1. This brake flange bracket is designed to work with an axle diameter of 3".

If your axle is smaller than this, or you want a 4 hole mounting flange. You will need the Brake Mounting Flange part # 4-35 for a 2-3/8" axle and the Trailer Brake Mounting Flange part # 4-50 for 3-1/2" axle diameters.

I recommend having a professional welder perform this task as the degree of the mounting flange will need to be the same on both sides.
