Question:
Hello eTrailer. Im a previous customer, and I would like to surface-mount 2ea. STL211XRFHB, Fusion LED Trailer Tail Light - Stop, Tail, Turn, Backup, right next to the rear license plate of a 2017 Subaru Impreza Premium 5-door. I would like to utilize all light features including backup light. What mating trailer hitch lighting harness would I use, and do I need extra components to hookup the backup light, too? This would simply add to each of the rear lighting functions. Could I just use wire taps to patch the above lights into each of the existing lights and their wires. No harness at all? It is relatively little additional power draw with the above light.

Helpful Expert Reply:
To install the Fusion LED Trailer Light # STL211XRFHB on your 2017 Subaru Impreza I recommend using the Deka Bonded 4 Wire # 16-4B-1 which is sold by the foot. You can then use Butt Connectors # DW05744-10 and Quick Splice Wire Connectors # SWC501746-1 to connect the wiring to appropriate functions.
Your Fusion LED Trailer Light pigtail wiring will connect to your Impreza's light functions as follows:
White wire for ground
Brown wire for backup light
Red wire for brake light
Black wire for tail light
Since these are LED lights you should have no problems with too much power being drawn.
