Question:

Looking for a 4 bike hitch rack that can convert to 2 bike. Able to carry 4 e-bikes , Rads and Aventon Able to support fenders, have locking rack frame and bikes. Good warranty and ability to replace worn parts.

Hey Gene! There's nothing on the market that's going to fit all of your requests but I've got one that's pretty close. The highest capacity 4-bike bike rack is going to be the Benton Shifts & Grins item # B82FR. It has a 55 lbs capacity for every bike on the rack, not just the front two. This isn't a common feature amongst 4-bike bike racks. Typically the back two are limited to 35 lbs - 40 lbs. You are going to have to remove your batteries and get your bike's below the 55 lbs limit.

The Benton item # B82FR can be easily transformed into a 2-bike configuration, without the need for tools. The ratcheting hooks that secure the bikes can be used on the frame instead of the wheels. You won't have to worry about fenders or having to use an adapter bar like item # HRBA-PRO. These padded hooks rotate and drop down to accommodate uniquely shaped frames like step-thru's and women's bikes.

The Benton Shifts & Grins Bike Rack item # B82FR has a limited lifetime warranty that covers parts defects. We do have replacement parts. It does not have any built in locks which is a big part of why it comes at such an affordable cost compared to other manufacturer's offerings. You can easily secure your bikes to the rack and your vehicle's hitch using the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock, Cable Lock, and Rack Lock for Benton Hitch Mounted 4-Bike Platform Rack # e28RV.

I have linked a review video below so you can see the features of this bike rack demonstrated. The carrier itself weighs 114 lbs. If you max it out with 4 55 lbs bikes your vehicle will need to have a hitch with a tongue weight rating of at least 334 lbs. What vehicle are you planning on mounting this bike rack to?

Jerred, I currently have a class 3 hitch that has carried 3 e-bikes and a hybrid. So think I am good there. Noticed a Thule rack in your reply. What is the difference between that and the Benton besides price?

@GeneT Aside from being twice the price, the Thule item # TH69TX has those built in locks you were looking for and weighs about 20 lbs less. It's a wheel mount though so you'll have some issues with your fenders. The main draw-back when compared to the Benton item # B82FR is the capacity. When transporting all 4-bikes you have to stay under a combined 160 lbs.
