Question:

I am wanting to purchase a weight distribution hitch with sway control and would greatly appreciate your suggestion.. I will be pulling a 37foot camper that weighs just below 9000 pounds and has a tongue weight right at 700 pounds. I will be pulling it with a ford 3/4 ton diesel truck..

When choosing a weight distribution system, the most important factor to consider is the total tongue weight of your setup. This will include both the loaded tongue weight of your trailer along with any added weight coming from behind the rear axle of your truck. You will want this number to fall somewhere around the middle of the weight distribution system's weight capacity range that you choose.

Using the 700-pound tongue weight you mentioned in your question, we can choose a properly rated system, remembering to leave some wiggle room to account for the loaded tongue weight and anything coming from behind the rear axle of your vehicle. I recommend using a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044 to verify your trailer's tongue weight when it is loaded as if ready to head out on a trip.

I recommend looking at the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37100ET. This system has a tongue weight capacity range of 600 to 1,000 pounds, so should be perfect for your setup. This is an excellent system that uses steel-on-steel friction to prevent and correct trailer sway as well as evenly distribute weight over the axles of your tow vehicle and trailer. This will help improve stability and control when towing. Both the weight distribution shank and compatible hitch ball are included.

I have attached a video demonstration of this product as well as an article on weight distribution systems that you may find helpful.
