Question:
When this vent is open I suspect rain will not get inside my vehicle, but what about when the vehicle is moving? Thanks! Ventline Vanair Trailer Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan - 6-1/4inch Diameter - Smoke Item # VP-543SP

Expert Reply:
When your trailer is moving down the road it is best to have all fan-powered vents closed. Apart from the rain concern the impact of wind at highway speeds might put excessive stress on the vent and/or its lid. You definitely do not want to operate the vent's fan motor while the trailer is moving as it is possible that the motor could be damaged by the force of air interfering with the fan blade's motion.
We do offer covers for vents, such as those like # CAM40431 and the others displayed on the linked page. These fit over vents to protect them from wind damage and to prevent entry of rain. We also have wall vents (without fans) such as # HMAV2-AVT2 and # WHMAV2-WAVT2 that allow passive air flow through the trailer while you travel.
