Question:
I have a 2017 Dodge Durango SXT... I am not sure what i need as far as wiring. I would like to wire a 7 way and also hook up my Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller. What do I need to accomplish this job? I don't have any existing wiring that I can see... I was going to install the draw tite hitch... I am guessing no tow package. It is a 2017 Dodge Durango SXT

If you do not have any trailer connectors and you do not have the tow package on your 2017 Durango, there are a few things you will need to get your P2 # 90885 brake controller installed.
First I recommend the T-One trailer wiring harness # 118617. This plugs right into the vehicle wiring behind the tail lights on the Durango.
Next, you will need part # ETBC7. This plugs into the 4-way trailer connector and then run the other wires as shown in the attached drawing. The drawing also show how the wiring from the brake controller should be run.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
The Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75713 is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening.
since it sounds like you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
