Replacement Tires for 7.00-15 Tires on 1976 Airstream Ambassador Trailer

Updated 03/30/2017 | Published 03/29/2017

Question:

Hello, Tires for a 1976 Airstream Ambassador I saw the prior post. My tires seems to be 7.00 by 15s. The unit is rated for about 5000 pounds towing. Can you advise me which tires would be best? I believe I need minimum 1250 load capacity per tire, but I would like to be safe. Which models of Kenda tires would work? My photos are on my mobile device. My apologies for not adding them to this post. Thank you!

We do have two 15 inch special trailer tire sizes currently available. The ST205/75-15 size will have a width of 8 inches and a height of 27.3 inches. This tire will be about 1 inch wider and 1 inch shorter compared to your 7.00-15 size. The Kenda Loadstar ST205/75D15 # AM1ST92 is a bias trailer tire with a maximum load of 1,820 pounds at 50 psi.

The ST225/75-15 size will be about 1-1/2 inches wider and about the same height (28.1 inches) as your 7.00-15 tire size, but it is designed for a minimum wheel width of 6 inches. The wheel width that the 7.00-15 size will usually be mounted on is 5-1/2 inches, so the ST225/75-15 size would not fit that wheel size.

To prolong the life of the trailer tires, I recommend always inflating the tires to their maximum recommended air pressure and staying below the listed speed and weight rating.

I have included a link that will take you to our available selection of ST205/75-15 Kenda Tires for you to look over.

I have also attached a couple of helpful articles on trailer tires for you to check out.
