Replacement for Dometic AC on 1999 Newmar Mountain Aire With Ducted Setup

Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 01/04/2026

Question:

Is there a version like this that also has a heat pump? I am replacing the Dometic form my 1999 Newmar Mountain Aire. It is a ducted system. The RV does have a furnace, but I was hoping I could find an AC with heatpump to use less propane. Thanks for the help.

Hey Christopher! A heat pump isn't available for the old Furrion you were referencing. Also, everything has moved from the old R410A refrigerant to R32 following the 2025 EPA regulations. Since parts aren't backwards compatible you will need a complete system replacement for your old Dometic setup. For an AC that comes with a heat pump I recommend one of the new GE Appliances AC systems. You can choose from the following:

-GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC System w/ Heat Pump - Ducted - 15,000 Btu - White # GE85ZR

-GE Appliances Deluxe Plus RV AC System w/ Heat Pump - Ducted - 15,000 Btu - Black # GE75ZR

-GE Appliances Low-Profile RV AC w/ Heat Pump - Ducted - 15,000 Btu - White # GE38RR

-GE Appliances Low-Profile RV AC w/ Heat Pump - Ducted - 15,000 Btu - Black # GE26RR

Another option would be an AC system with a heat strip instead of a heat pump. All of the Advent Air systems have the option to add the Electric Heat Strip # ACMHD. These are also a little more reasonably priced. If that sounds good you can choose from the following:

-Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White # ADV92SR

-Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - Black # ADV62SR

-Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White # ADV82SR

-Advent Air Low Profile RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - Black # ADV54QR

Any big trips coming up with your motorhome?
