Question:
I am trying to find out if I buy rails for a 15k Husky hitch that I have are they universal to larger 18k or 20k hitches as we are buying a larger fifth wheel in a few months. Not sure what new brand I want too purchase for this trailer yet but would like to not have to change the rails out. Hope that makes sense.1999 Ford F350

The larger hitches use standard size rails the vast majority of the time. I do recommend using custom brackets versus the universal brackets for an easier install. For your 1999 Ford F-350, I recommend using the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Outboard Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP56005-53. This will give you the custom brackets as well as the longer rails for an easier installation. You can also use # RP50082-58. Both of these rail kits are compatible with Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky.
For a larger hitch, when you choose to upgrade, I recommend the Reese 22K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30033. This hitch has a few perks like the dual-jaw design that gives you a secure and even king pin contact to minimize jarring and chucking. It has an adjustable hitch height from 14-18 inches for level towing.
You also may want to consider putting a 7-way connection in the bed of your truck with # C56000 for easy connection and accessibility (the RP30033 comes with this harness).
