Updated 03/14/2017 | Published 03/13/2017 >
Question:
We are looking at raising our travel trailer 5inch with a metal block lift over our single torsion axle .Question is by raising our trailer height 5inch will this affect the tow height from the truck and how can we compensate for that, as our trailer and truck tow at same level now?

When towing your trailer, you just want to make sure that everything remains as level as possible. If you raise the trailer body 5 inches, I recommend trying to compensate as much as you can on the vehicle end with a raised ball mount.
After the lifts are installed on the trailer, take a measurement from level ground up to the bottom of the coupler. Simply use this measurement to determine if any adjustment is needed with the ball mount on your tow vehicle. For example, the Curt Heavy Duty Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # C45342 can be used to get either a 5 inch rise or a 6 inch drop. I have attached our selection of ball mounts as well as a helpful article that explains how to choose the correct one so that your trailer and vehicle remain level.
