Question:
What is the difference in the AKEBRK-12R brake and the dexter 23-443? Is the dexter quality worth that much difference? Thank you

Expert Reply:
Dexter Axle has the brand recognition so that will definitely weigh more in their favor. Axle Technology isn't as well known even though their parts are very common on trailers but they're mostly used buy trailer manufacturers. So their parts often come on trailers but aren't as commonly used when someone is buying replacement parts.
The Axle Technology brakes, like # AKEBRK-12R for the right and # AKEBRK-12L for the left, are good quality brakes and some of our installers here even prefer them because they have a short break in period.
On the flip side, Dexter Axle brakes, like # 23-443 for the right and # 23-442 for the left, are a popular brand that you can't go wrong with. They're well regarded for a reason and there's something to say for that.
