Tricking P3 Brake Controller Into Showing Connection to Trailer Brakes to Allow Programming

Question:
2006 Dodge 2500 3/4 ton I can only program so far, then says no trailer. Do I need the trailer hooked up to program! PS, I dont get my trailer for one more week, so have nothing to hook up. Thanks

Yes, for a good portion of the programming of the P3 you will need to have a trailer connected. But you can trick the controller into thinking a trailer is connected if you put a load on the output circuit of the 7-way. Connect a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to the pin and the controller will show a connection.
