Purpose of Steel Band on Trailer Leaf Springs and Which Side of Axle it Should Go On

Question:

I purchased some leaf springs from you last week. Noticed only one side of the spring has a wrap around the upper leafs holding the top leafs together. Does it make any difference if the wrapped side of the spring is in front or back of the axle?

The clips on the # e77SR leaf springs are designed to be forward of the axle due to braking axle wrap (twisting). The straps/clips aren't super strong to prevent this but they're still there.

If the strap comes off or the leaves come apart it is time to replace the springs.
