To install a 7-Way wiring harness on your 2013 BMW X5 you can use the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7.
If you do not already have trailer wiring on your BMW, I recommend getting the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236. This kit will give you the 4-Way harness that is required to install the # ETBC7 Kit.
If you are needing to wire your trailer, you can use the 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with the Junction Box # HS381-9000. To run wires from the junction box to the brakes and trailer lights, you can use the 10 Gauge wire, part # 10-1-1, 12 Gauge wire, part # 12-1-1, and 14 Gauge wire, part # DW04923-1, to properly wire your trailer. The reason that you will need to use 3 different gauges of wiring is because they all help control different functions on your trailer; some wires simply turn on a light bulb while other wires control your brakes. You will run the wires from the junction box to the appropriate locations using the attached diagram.
