An aluminum butt hinge like Polar's # PLR1005 is a durable hinge that could work great on your horse trailer. My only concern with this hinge for your application is if your frame is steel instead of aluminum which could cause galvanic corrosion because they are dissimilar metals. If your frame is aluminum, I think this is a great choice and you will just need to be careful welding. I don't know how many you would need for your application, but most trailers use a minimum of 3 or 4.
If you have a steel frame, I'd recommend you go with the Polar Ramp Door Hinge, # PLR1902. This hinge has a grease fitting, and has an unfinished exterior to make it easier to weld. I've included a review video for you.
