Do the RockTamers Need to Have the Center Section Blocked to Protect Boat

Question:
the gap in the center of the looks like rocks, gravel and debris will travel through the center opening. another product brush type suggest center opening should be closed to prevent this. planning trip , approx. 3000 miles towing boat. also how well do the weather guard mud flaps work to prevent gravel and so on from damaging boat?

Directly behind the tires will be where 99% of rocks/dirt would come up off the rear of a vehicle. Because of that the RockTamers Mudflaps part # ERT00108 would block nearly all of what would come off the rear of the vehicle. It is the tires that grab the rocks and other debris and fling it up into the air. I can assure you this setup would protect your boat.
If the center section was an important section to keep blocked there would be laws to have it covered as well on semi-trucks and dump trucks.
