Question:
Hello. My Outback Fish Kayak has a 10inch wide keel that protrudes about 2inch lower than the flat of the hull. If I mount the pads toward the sides, will the RR71 hold the boat high enough so that the keel is not resting on the cross bars? If not, what product do you recommend. I want to load from the rear and I like the felt sliding action of the RR71.

Helpful Expert Reply:
For the style of hull that your Outback Fish kayak has I would go with a J-style kayak carrier like the Yakima JayLow # Y04073 since the lower section is going to contact the crossbar if you used the part # RR571.
The JayLow will hold the kayak just fine and the hull design would not interfere.
