Question:

I just purchased a new 2016 Mazda CX-9. It does not have a trailer hitch right now. Im looking to add the hitch, but not sure which wiring harness to purchase. I see 2 available.

For your 2016 Mazda CX-9 I recommend installing the 4 Pole Trailer Connector # C59496.

Since you don't have a trailer hitch receiver you most likely do not have a tow package. However, vehicles with a factory tow package would use the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118278.

For a quality and cost effective trailer hitch receiver I would go with the Draw-Tite - Class III - 2" # 76020.

If you need a ball mount for towing please check out the attached article that covers various ball mount options and explains how to measure rise/drop. An adjustable ball mount is a great option for versatility as well. I suggest the Convert-A-Ball Adjustable-Height Ball Mount - 2" Hitch # TK5007. Here are a couple of Hitch Ball options as well.
