What is the Purpose of the Support Brackets of the Hollywood Rack E-Bike Rack HR1450E

Question:

I am curious to have you explain to me in an engineering sense, exactly how the front support bars support the main rack. They do not support any direct bike weight at all and are positioned so close the center of the bike rack that they would hardly be of any help at all to the far end of the main support bar which is where it would be needed most. They also make folding the rack to a vertical position impossible and putting the reflector back on out of the question. Thanks,

The support brackets that you mentioned that come out of the main center section of the carrier and then back around to the rails that hold the bike trays basically just provide more support. The length of the rails allows the weight of the rack to put a decent amount of leverage on the center of the bike rack so this bracing allows a bit more support and reduces the leverage the arms have over the rest of the rack.

The rails cannot fold up because of them. But they are needed to provide the additional support for carrying the heavier E-bikes.
