Question:

Is there a 18k 5 th wheel hitch I can buy that auto slides and I can detach from it on an angle? Seems like most of them you need to be almost in line with the trailer?

We do have an Autoslide fifth wheel hitch that may work for you. It is the Demco Hijacker, part # DM8550034.

I called my contact at Demco and asked about disconnecting and the angle it can be detached. They told me that there is a 10 degree angle that the trailer can be disconnected to with the Autoslide. Since the opening that the king pin slides into has a limited amount of movement, trying to detach the trailer at a sharper angle would not work. With the Autoslide you have an additional 14 inches of clearance for tighter turns.

I recommend the rail installation kit, part # DM8552011-71 for this hitch.

If you do not have a 7-pole plug for your trailer in the bed of your truck I recommend part # 41157. This plugs into the existing wiring on your truck.
