You can replace an existing Dexter brake assembly with the Electric Trailer Brake with Dust Shield, Self-Adjusting, 12-1/4 # AKEBRK-8R. I confirmed with my contact at Axle Tek that their brake assemblies and the Dexter are interchangeable.
If you have this # ADEBRK-8R brake assembly and need new brake shoes, you can use the 12-1/4 Inch x 3-3/8 Inch Electric Brake Shoe/Lining RH # BP04-255. For the Left Hand assembly # AKEBRK-8L, you would want # BP04-245.
The magnets used for the 8K brake assemblies is the Trailer Brake Magnet for Dexter 12-1/4 Brake Assembly # BP01-265.
