Can You Replace 11 Inch Equalizer For Slipper Springs With 12 Inch Equalizer

Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/07/2024

Question:

I have a tandem axle trailer with two 7K axles on it. Running the slipper style spring. The equalizer I have on there right now is 11 inches long. My question would can you replace the equalizer with a 12 inch long one or only the the 11 inch one will work?

Hi Jordan,

You definitely want to replace your 11 inch long equalizer with the same length, the Equalizer for 2" Wide Slipper Springs - 11" Long # TREQ1304.

Going with a longer equalizer will result in the not being in the correct position and at an angle, which can have a negative impact on a host of things with your suspension.

Hey Jordan, how did things go with the 11-inch equalizer on your tandem axle trailer? Did it line up well with your slipper springs? Your update could make it easier for the next person working on a similar suspension setup.
