I blew out one of my bearings on my pontoon trailer. How do I determine what size bearings to buy. Do I measure the opening on the wheel hub? Thank you

I can help you figure out what bearing will work for your pontoon trailer.
There are a couple of ways to determine what bearing you will need. Easiest way is if you have the bearing and can find the stamped in part number. I have linked a diagram which shows where to check for the stamped number.
What you will want to do is measure the inner diameter of the bearing, I recommend with calipers like # PTW80157 and if it is 1.063 then the # L44649 will work for your boat trailer. If the bearing is damaged you wouldn't be able to get an accurate measurement from it so then we turn to the spindle and axle weight rating. You will want to take the hub off of the trailer and find the part number on the existing bearings and seals, then you will want to use a digital caliper to measure the bearing seat for the inner and the outer bearing (see diagram). This will help us determine the inner diameter of these bearings. If you know your axle rating this will also help us narrow down what the correct bearings are for you.
When replacing the bearings, you will likely also need to replace the grease seal. If you cannot find a part number on the seal, you will also want to measure the seal seat to have an idea of the seal inner diameter. To find the seal outer diameter, you will want to measure the hub where the outside of the grease seal sets.
Just let me know what bearing measurements or numbers you find, I'd be more than happy to help you find the right part for your pontoon trailer.
