Can the handle be set to the back side of the trailer. not just spin the whole body but just the gear box on top?

The etrailer trailer jack # TJA-5000S-B was not specifically designed to move the handle to the opposite side but you technically could do that. Another option is to use a top wind jack so that the handle doesn't get in the way of anything forward of the jack (assuming you leave the handle pointed away from a possible obstruction).
